Located in the municipality of Kolari, and with a skiing tradition going back to the 1930’s, Ylläs is the largest ski resort in Finland, with over 37 runs in total and slope lengths of over 3,000m and drops of 465m and 330km of ski tracks.

Based over seven fells, the sheer scale and beauty of the area is reason enough to come and visit at any time of the year. However, during Christmas all the villages in the area enter into the spirit of Christmas and the area is lit up with beautiful candle displays and decorations.

There are plenty of excursions to go on, including a whole host of snowmobile safaris, tobogganing, reindeer and husky treks and even snowshoe hiking. Many of the pistes around the resort enjoy seasonal illumination that adds to the atmosphere and the sense of festive spirit.

Traditional saunas provide relief for aching joints and muscles and the local bars extend a warm welcome and provide many local delicacies and refreshments.
