Itinerary:

Day One

COLLECT YOUR SPECIAL boarding pass when you check in at your UK airport and don't forget to keep it safe! We depart the UK around 8am and on arriving into Enontekio airport, you will be met at the airport by local guides who will assist you to your coach. The road to the Davvi Arctic Lodge is known as the Northern Lights route. Keep your eyes peeled during the 45-minute transfer as you may be able to spot one of Santa's reindeer roaming through the woods or even one of his elves on their way to Santa's secret cabin. Temperatures in this part of Lapland range between -7C and -35C in December and the included all-in-one thermal suits and boots are an essential part of your holiday package and we will stop to collect these en route to the hotel.

Once at the Davvi Arctic Lodge you will check into your chosen accommodation and get settled in. Refreshments will be available during your welcome meeting hosted by your representative, who will go through the content of your stay and introduce you to the local area, giving you all the information you need to get the most from your break. Before dinner commences, all guests are invited to a host's cocktail reception. Later, during our welcome dinner, your Transun rep will be available throughout the dinner to answer any further questions you may have. At bedtime, a few little people may be very excited and not ready to go to sleep yet. Tell them they must get plenty of rest as we have a very busy day tomorrow and there is certain someone very close by who is taking note!

Day Two

YOU WILL WAKE to a morning of such profound quietness and Arctic darkness, you will hesitate to get out of bed until you remember: today's the day we go in search of Santa! After breakfast, we head into the grounds of the Davvi Arctic Lodge where once again your breath will be taken away by the sheer beauty of the area. Here a fun-filled day awaits. Our snow fun activities include tobogganing, guiding your own stiga (a toboggan with steering wheels for youngsters), working out how to use the kick sledges and learning to balance and use the tandem skis. Or you can practice scoring goals at snow hockey, proving who is the strongest in tug of war, or just having a good old fashioned snowball fight. And youngsters can take a couple of laps on the supervised kid's snowmobile track (see page 48 for further details). As the activities are available throughout the day you can enjoy them at your leisure. Don't forget to keep your camera close by, as the day is bound to provide great photo opportunities. A hot warming lunch will be served in the hotel. Oh no!

One of the elves has left all of the decorations for tonight's festive dinner outside and now they are ruined. It won't be the same without party hats and crackers, so can you help Mrs Claus in Claus Christmas Crafts class to make some more? Alternatively, you can always enjoy some quality family time in the Sámi Lounge, playing one of the many board games available.

However the highlight of the day is sure to be when, with your special boarding ticket in hand, you join Santa's own reindeer sleigh as you set off In Search of Father Christmas. You will travel though the still, snow-laden trees to find a secret path with one of the elves to guide you on your way. As the anticipation builds, you will glimpse something through the trees. Could this be the place where we will find Santa taking a well-deserved rest in his chosen log cabin or Sámi kota? During a private family meeting with Santa, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and they will receive a small gift which will evoke special memories for years to come.

Fancy visiting another country this evening? No problem. If the day's activities weren't quite enough for you, then work up an appetite for dinner by joining us on a walk to the local church, on the Swedish side of the border. It's the most northerly church in Sweden! After a short welcome by the local vicar and carol singing, we will head back to the Davvi Arctic Lodge for a festive dinner complete with crackers, party poppers and blowers, before relaxing in the Sámi Lounge or enjoying a drink in the bar exchanging highlights of the great day we have just shared - the day we went in search of Santa!

Day Three

HOPEFULLY FULLY REFRESHED after a good night's sleep and breakfast, it's time to check out before joining in your two included Santa safaris, a 5km Husky Safari and a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari, two adventures surrounded by the vast unspoiled landscapes of this majestic region. After your safaris, we have a small amount of time left to have a last go at tobogganing or for those that wish to, there should be time to participate in one of our exciting optional excursions - perhaps an introduction to reindeer herding, or an expedition to a frozen lake to try your hand at ice fishing? Lunch will be provided at the hotel before we set off to Enontekio for our flight home.
