Itinerary:
27 December
CHECK IN AT your UK airport and collect your special boarding pass. You'll depart around 10am and arrive in Enontekio late afternoon. Local guides will be greet you and assist you to your coach. The village of Hetta is a 10 to 15 minute transfer. Temperatures here range between -7C and -35C in December and the included all-in-one thermal suits and boots are an essential part of your holiday package and we will stop to collect these on route to your accommodation. On arrival in Hetta, check into your chosen accommodation type. In the early evening, your Transun representative will host a welcome meeting and will discuss your break in further detail. This evening at a welcome dinner, your rep will endeavour to answer any questions. Tonight, you can join one of our optional activities, such as a night safari, offering the thrill of travelling through the wilderness beneath the stars, perhaps encountering the Northern Lights. See page 14 for full details of our optional activities.
28 December
AFTER BREAKFAST, YOU will head out on your first Santa safari, either a 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari. A warming buffet lunch will be served at the hotel. In the afternoon, those with older children can take a stroll on snowshoes through the wilderness. Those with younger children can take part in the snow activities nearby, including tobogganing, kick sledges, stigas (toboggans with steering wheels for youngsters) and old fashioned snowball fights! Or, you can join one of our optional activities or keep warm by joining some of the indoor craft activities. This evening, join us on a walk to the local church where, after a welcome by the local vicar, we will enjoy carol singing, before returning for dinner. Tonight you might like to join one of our night-time optional safaris.
29 December
AFTER BREAKFAST, WE head outside for snow fun activities that include tobogganing, guiding your own stiga, and working out how to use the kick sledges and tandem skis. You can practice scoring at snow hockey and test your strength in tug-of-war. Youngsters can try the supervised kid's snowmobile track (see page 48 for further details). The activities are available throughout the day. Lunch will be provided at your hotel, with hot drinks available throughout the day. Make sure you have your special boarding pass ready to board Santa's own reindeer sleigh and set off in search of Father Christmas. As the anticipation builds, you glimpse something through the trees. Could this be where we will find Santa taking a rest in his log cabin or Sámi kota? During a private family meeting with Santa, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and will receive a small gift. This evening, there is a festive dinner, complete with crackers, party poppers and blowers.
30 December
AFTER BREAKFAST, YOU check out of your room, ready for your last Santa safari. A 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari, whichever activity you did not join on 28 December. Then there's time for a final play in the snow or a last optional excursion. Lunch will be at the hotel, before departing for Enontekio and our flight home.
