Itinerary:

Day One

CHECK IN AT your chosen UK airport and collect your special boarding pass. You'll depart the UK around 10am and late afternoon (local time) arrive into Enontekio airport. Local guides will be at the airport to greet you and assist you to your coach. We'll depart on the 45-minute journey to the Davvi Arctic Lodge, along the Northern Lights route, which serves to remind you that you are now deep inside the Arctic Circle, as you gaze out at the spectacular, snow-clad landscapes. You are likely to catch a glimpse of one of Santa's reindeer, which greatly outnumber people in this far-flung region. En route, we'll stop to collect your included all-in-one thermal suits and boots, before continuing the last few minutes of the journey to the Davvi Arctic Lodge. Temperatures in this part of Lapland range between -7C and -35C in December and the suits and boots are an essential part of your holiday package.

In the early evening, your representative will host a welcome meeting, providing you with an insight into the area, discussing the content of your break in detail and answering any questions. During the welcome dinner, your rep will endeavour to speak to each family individually. Tonight, you might like to join one of our optional activities, such as a night safari, offering the thrill of travelling through the wilderness beneath the stars, with the possibility of encountering the Northern Lights. See page 14 for full details of all our exciting optional activities. Or you can relax in the Sámi Lounge. At bedtime, the children will no doubt be eager to talk about their search for Father Christmas. Tell them there is a great deal of fun to have first, before we set off in search of the grand old man himself.

Day Two

AFTER BREAKFAST, you will head out on your first included Santa safari, either a 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari when you will enjoy an adventure surrounded by the vast unspoiled landscapes of this majestic region. Back at the hotel, a warming buffet lunch will be served. In the afternoon, those with older children can take a stroll on snowshoes (like walking around on a pair of tennis racquets!) through the wilderness. Those with younger children, can take part in the snow activities available nearby including tobogganing, kick sledges, stigas (toboggans with steering wheels for youngsters) or old-fashioned snowball fights!  Alternatively, you can participate in one of our exciting optional excursions - what about trying your hand at a spot of ice fishing? - or keep warm in the hotel and join in with some of the crafts available. Fancy visiting another country this evening? No problem. Work up an appetite for dinner by joining us on a walk to the local church, on the Swedish side of the border. It's the most northerly church in Sweden! After a short welcome by the local vicar and carol singing, we will head back to the Davvi Arctic Lodge. Before dinner, all guests are invited to a host's cocktail reception. After a relaxing dinner there's an opportunity to spend quality family time over a game of Monopoly or Scrabble and discuss the best parts of your experience so far, before retiring for the evening. Or, you might like to take another opportunity to join one of our optional activities, perhaps in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. At bedtime, your children may be getting impatient. When will we go looking for Santa, they will plead. Soon, you will tell them. Very soon now. And their dreams will be filled with expectations.

Day Three

ANOTHER MORNING OF such profound quietness and Arctic darkness will make you hesitate to get out of bed until you remember: today's the day we go in search of Santa! After breakfast, we will head into the grounds of the hotel, where a fun-filled day awaits. Our snow fun activities include tobogganing down the slopes, guiding your own stiga (toboggans with steering wheels for youngsters), working out how to use the kick sledges and the tandem skis. Or you can practice scoring goals at snow hockey, testing your strength in tug-of-war, or throwing snowballs. And youngsters can take a couple of laps on the supervised kids' snowmobile track (see page 48 for further details). As the activities are available throughout the day you can enjoy them at your leisure. Don't forget to keep your camera close by, as the day is bound to provide some memorable photo opportunities.

Lunch will be provided at the hotel between 12 and 2 and can be taken at leisure with hot drinks available outside and in throughout the day.

Mrs Claus needs your help! Tonight is the festive dinner and the elves are so busy helping Santa they haven't time to help prepare for the Festive Dinner. Can you join in with Claus Christmas Crafts class and help get everything ready for tonight's party?

Make sure you check you have your special boarding ticket as, with this in hand, the moment you have been waiting for has arrived as you board Santa's own reindeer sleigh and set off in search of Father Christmas. Watching for clues, you should come across an opening with a glimmer of light showing between the trees. Could this be the home of Father Christmas? Santa is taking a rest in one of the many cabins or kotas he uses whilst checking on his elvesthroughout Lapland. We have told him you are coming and he is happy to spend time welcoming his visitors. During a private family meeting with Santa, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and they will receive a small gift from him which will bring a smile and evoke special memories for years to come of the day they met the real Father Christmas.

Later, after a long and fulfilling day, it is time to sit down to a well-earned festive dinner, complete with crackers, party poppers and blowers. Afterwards, enjoy a drink in the bar or wind down in the Sámi Lounge with a board game or two before retiring for the night.

Day Four

FOLLOWING a good night's sleep, it's time for breakfast before you check out of your room ready for your last Santa safari, a 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari, which ever you did not join on Day 2. There should still be time for you to have one final play in the snow or a last chance to join one of our optional excursions. Lunch will be provided at the hotel before we depart for Enontekio and our flight home.
