Itinerary:

Day One

CHECK IN AT your chosen UK airport and collect your special boarding pass. You'll depart the UK around 10am and late afternoon (local time) arrive into Enontekio airport. Local guides will be at the airport to greet you and assist you to your coach.

The village of Hetta is just a short 10 to 15-minute transfer from the airport. As you gaze out at the spectacular, snow-clad landscapes, you wonder, is that one of Santa's elves we can see? You will almost definitely catch a glimpse of one of Santa's reindeer, as these delightful creatures greatly outnumber man in this far-flung region.

Temperatures in this part of Lapland range between -7C and -35C in December and the included all-in-one thermal suits and boots are an essential part of your holiday package and we will stop to collect these en route. Once everyone is ready, we'll continue the last few minutes of the journey to your accommodation. Once there, you will check into your chosen accommodation and get settled in.

In the early evening, your Transun representative will host a welcome meeting. Whilst you enjoy tea or coffee, they will provide you with an insight into the area, discuss the content of your break in further detail and answer any questions you may have. During the evening you can enjoy a welcome dinner, during which your rep will be available and will endeavour to speak to each family individually to discuss the itinerary in more depth and answer any questions you may have. Tonight, you might like to join one of our optional activities, such as a night safari, offering the thrill of travelling through the wilderness beneath the stars, with the possibility of encountering the Northern Lights. See page 14 for full details of all our exciting optional activities. At bedtime, the children will no doubt be eager to talk about their search for Father Christmas. Tell them there is a great deal of fun to have first, before we set off in search of the grand old man himself.

Day Two

AFTER BREAKFASTAND the chance to find your bearings, you will head out on your first Santa safari, either a 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari when you will enjoy an adventure surrounded by the vast unspoiled landscapes of this majestic region. A warming buffet lunch will be served at your hotel.

In the afternoon, for those with older children who wish to participate, we will take a stroll on snowshoes (like walking around on a pair of tennis racquets!) through the wilderness, taking a break to warm up with a drink of hot berry juice before returning. If you don't wish to join us on the snowshoe trek or for those with younger children, then you can take part in the snow activities available nearby including tobogganing, kick sledges, stigas (toboggans with steering wheels for youngsters) or good old fashioned snowball fights! Alternatively, you can participate in one of the many optional excursions (see page 14 for details), or keep warm inside and join in with some of the craft activities available. Our represenative needs your help. Tomorrow is the Festive Dinner and the elves are so busy helping Santa with the toys, they haven't got time to help prepare. Can you join in with the craft activities and help get everything ready for tomorrow's dinner?

If the day's activities weren't quite enough for you, this evening we have one more treat in store! Join us on a walk to the local church where, after a short welcome by the local vicar, we will enjoy carol singing, before returning to our accommodation. After a relaxing dinner, it's early to bed or a chance to relax and spend some quality family time, discussing the highlights of your stay so far. Alternatively, you might like another opportunity to join one of our exciting optional activities and the possibility of viewing the spectacular Northern Lights. See page 14 for full details of all our optional activities.

Day Three

ANOTHER MORNING OF such profound quietness and Arctic darkness will make you hesitate to get out of bed until you remember: today's the day we go in search of Santa! After an energy-boosting breakfast and time to get all of your outdoor wear on, we will head into the local area, where a host of snow activities are available for you to enjoy. Here a fun-filled day awaits. Our snow fun activities include tobogganing down the slopes, guiding your own stiga (toboggans with steering wheels for youngsters), working out how to use the kick sledges and learning to balance and use the tandem skis. Or you can practice scoring goals at snow hockey, proving who is the strongest in tug of war, or just having a good old fashioned snowball fight. And youngsters can take a couple of laps on the supervised kid's snowmobile track (see page 48 for further details). As the activities are available throughout the day you can enjoy them at your leisure. Don't forget to keep your camera close by, as the day is bound to provide some memorable photo opportunities. Lunch will be provided at your hotel, with hot drinks available outside throughout the day.

Make sure you check you have your special boarding ticket as, with this in hand, the moment you have been waiting for has arrived as you board Santa's own reindeer sleigh and set off in search of Father Christmas. Once the elves have guided you to the hidden path, use the clues to find your way and to make sure you are on the right track. Before long, you should come across an opening with a glimmer of light showing between the trees. Could this be the home of Father Christmas? Santa is taking a rest in one of the many cabins or Sámi kotas he uses whilst checking on his elves in Lapland. We have told him you are coming and he is happy to spend time welcoming his visitors. During a private family meeting with Santa, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and they will receive a small gift which will evoke special memories for years to come of the day they met the real Father Christmas. After a long and fun-filled day it is time to sit down to a Festive Dinner, complete with crackers, party poppers and blowers, a time to share magical experiences and enjoy the afterglow of a day spent in the Arctic wilderness.

Day Four

FOLLOWING, HOPEFULLY, A night of magical dreams and a good night's sleep, it's time for breakfast before you check out of your room ready for your last Santa safari. A 5km Husky Safari or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Safari, which ever you did not join on Day 2.

There should still be time to join one of our optional excursions - perhaps an introduction to reindeer herding, or an expedition to a frozen lake to try your hand at ice fishing? (see page 14 for details). Lunch will be provided at the hotel before we depart back to Enontekio airport for our flight to the UK.
